Before moving onto Famagusta why not visit the monastery village of Bellapais with its' fantastic panoramic views and monastery ruins or visit St Hillarion Castle where the more adventurous can climb to the very top of this ancient fortress to witness spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding countryside. Onto Famagusta to where the old town offers a unique middle eastern feel with a mix of the old and new surrounded by ancient reinforced walls to keep out the Ottomans. The town offers a variety of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a host of ancient churches not forgetting the Othello Tower the location for Shakespeare's Hamlet. The surrounding countryside is just waiting to be explored from the ruins at Salamis, the greatest ancient city in Cyprus, to the quaint fishing village of Bogaz and the miles and miles of superb unspoilt beaches of the Karpaz peninsular.
