Travelling on a safari holiday brings you as close to the African wildlife as this, whilst you experience beautiful, panoramic landscapes and skies. Many of The Adventure Company trips in East & South Africa contribute donations to local projects. These include the Selous Rhino Project in Tanzania and equipment for the Arusha Children's Trust in Tanzania. Your Group Leaders Masoud ' A' Kilanga - Tanzania Working as a professional Group Leader has been my childhood dream as I love nature and wildlife in general. I also like to meet many different people. One of the major reasons which has made me love leading groups is that I feel very proud to show people beautiful untouched wilderness, as well as hundreds of species of animals, birds and aquatic creatures which inhabit our game reserves and national parks. Antony Gachugu - Kenya Being a leader allows me to meet new people and show them my beloved country and its wildlife. Some of my favourite places to take them are Laikipia and the Masai Mara. Laikipia for its fantastic landscape and to be able to be the only car as far as the eye can see, and the Mara for its fantastic wildlife. My motto for life and leading is " By having an open heart and mind you will learn from everyone you meet and by doing that your life will become enlightened". 5 Walking & Trekking Trip 74For the latest prices call 0845 450 5312 or visit www. adventurecompany. co. uk Wildlife - what's good to see and where? The real reason to visit east and southern Africa is the wildlife and, whilst all the countries featured are rich in a wide variety of flora and fauna, there are some specific places where it is better to see certain types of animals. Big 5 ( lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant) can be seen in Kruger National Park on one of our South Africa safaris; South East Africa Explorer ( LM), Johannesburg to the Cape ( SA) or Kruger & Zululand ( JJ), or in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania on the Serengeti Explorer ( RV), Rift Valley Safari ( ACTL) or East Africa Wildlife Adventure ( KT). Rhino are best seen at Etosha NP on our Namibian Sands ( ACNL) and Delta & Dunes ( NB) itineraries, at Hluhluwe on Johannesburg to the Cape ( JJ) and at the Ngorongoro Crater on the Serengeti Explorer ( RV), Rift Valley Safari ( ACTL) or East Africa Wildlife Adventure ( KT). Primates are best viewed in Uganda on our Gorilla Safari ( UG) including Bwindi impenetrable forest ( gorilla) and Kibale Forest ( chimpanzee). The country also has a fabulous array of game. Hippo love the water and are best seen at the Kazinga Channel in Uganda on our Gorilla Safari ( UG) or in the Okavango Delta in Botswana on our Cape to Victoria Falls ( CF), Delta to Victoria Falls ( BS) or Delta & Dunes ( NB). Elephant are widely seen but are particularly prevalent in Botswana at Chobe National Park, visited on our Delta to Victoria Falls ( BS) itinerary. Giraffe and other plains game such as wildebeest, zebra and antelope thrive in the wide open spaces of the Masai Mara on the Classic Kenya Safari ( KC) or Walking with the Masai ( ACKE) and the Serengeti. Tree- climbing lion can only be seen at Lake Manyara in Tanzania on the Serengeti Explorer ( RV), Rift Valley Safari ( ACTL) and East Africa Wildlife Adventure ( KT) or in Queen Elizabeth II NP in Uganda on our Gorilla Safari ( UG). Lemurs are found only on Madagascar on our Madagascan Discoverer ( MG). This beautiful island is also home to numerous endemic species. Leopard are timid and elusive. The best place to see these magnificent creatures is at South Luangwa on our South East Africa Explorer ( LM). For first time safaris the big names are a great place to start. Kruger National Park in South Africa, the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya are the best known parks in Africa for a reason; big game is easy to see and plentiful. There is no shortage of game on show here including wildebeest, zebra, antelope and giraffe and where there are herds there are predators. Look out for lion, cheetah and leopard. It is also possible to witness one of nature's most awe- inspiring spectacles, the Great Migration. Look for the dates on our Serengeti ( Tanzania) itineraries. For a more in- depth experience or a second time visit to Africa, why not try Selous in southern Tanzania, a wild and remote experience; the Okavango Delta in Botswana with truly adventurous camping; the combination of beautiful landscapes and game watching in Namibia or fabulous wildlife and gorilla tracking in Bwindi, Uganda? Trying to decide where to go on safari can be difficult but this is a great problem to have! Each destination has something different going for it and choosing the right one is more about finding the closest fit for your individual needs than the impossible task of trying to discern which is the ' best'. Whether it's a comfortable safari or an epic overland adventure you'll find it all in east and southern Africa. Extensions Safari Overview & |
