The Faroes are situated in the North Atlantic, mid- way between Iceland and Scotland, and are a self-governing region of Denmark. They consist of 18 islands, of which all but one is inhabited. Your adventure begins with fi ve nights exploring the beautiful south and east of Iceland, taking in several iconic waterfalls and a landscape shaped by glaciers and volcanoes, whilst enjoying the hospitality of a several hoteliers. Board the overnight ferry at Seydisfjordur in the East Fjords and sail to the island of Streymoy, docking at Torshavn, the Faroes' capital city and one of the smallest in the world. Day 4 visit the turf church of Nupsstadur then drive across the outwash plains of Iceland's largest icecap, Vatnajokull. Reach the amazing glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon and stand on the shoreline and watch as icebergs break up and head out to sea. Cross over the road and walk down onto the black sand beach to see bergs of all shapes and sizes washed ashore. Continue along Road 1 in view of stunning glaciers, to Hotel Hofn, where you will overnight. Day 5 as the road winds through the breathtaking scenery of the East Fjords, see abundant birdlife and perhaps stop at a quaint fi shing village, such as Djupivogur. Head north through another mountainous region to Egilsstadir, for an overnight stay at charming Guesthouse Egilsstadir. Day 6 drive up and over a winding mountain road to Seydisfjordur. Drop off vehicle at the dock and then check in at the ferry terminal for your overnight journey, in a lower berth inside cabin ( other cabin options available on request), to the Faroes - the ferry departs promptly at midday on a Thursday, mid- June to mid- August*. Day 7 arrive at Torshavn around 04: 30. Within walking distance of the harbour is Hotel Hafnia - check in for a 3- night stay. Day 8 collect rental vehicle and start exploring!
