Should you have any specifi c requirements such as automatic transmission, we will endeavour to provide the requested vehicle. However if this isn't possible, we reserve the right to provide an alternative of a similar or superior standard. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call us. GENERAL RENTAL TERMS INCLUDED Rental of the car for the agreed period on an unlimited mileage basis. Semi- comprehensive insurance - no charge for one additional driver. Icelandic VAT (@ 25.5%). Vehicle collection: those staying in Reykjavik and Akureyri will be collected from their hotel and taken to the depot to collect rental vehicle. Vehicle return: those staying in Reykjavik and Akureyri will receive a transfer back to their hotel after they have dropped off their rental vehicle provided it is during depot opening hours. NOT INCLUDED Insurance policy upgrades. Fuel and oil. Please note a credit card ( Visa, American Express or MasterCard) is required to guarantee all car rentals. Drivers must be a minimum of 20 years of age for standard and 4WD vehicles and aged 25 or over for luxury vehicles ( as detailed on our website). You must also have held a full driving licence for a minimum of 12 months. STANDARD INSURANCE ( CDW) all rentals include a semi-comprehensive policy. The standard ( CDW) insurance waives liability in case of damage to the rental vehicle in excess of approx. £ 870 for standard cars ( groups A to D) and approx. £ 1,550 for all other vehicles ( excesses are charged in ISK). This standard policy can be upgraded locally ( to super CDW) or you may choose to upgrade in advance; please read on. CAR HIRE - INSURANCE POLICY UPGRADE The last thing you need at the end of your trip is a charge on your credit card to cover any unexpected damage to the vehicle. With specialist cover provided by Insurance4CarHire you can purchase what we believe to be a great car hire reimbursement insurance package. This insurance policy offers reimbursement for any excess charges up to £ 2,000 in any one incident, covering accidental damage to the vehicle and specifi cally damage to windows and tyres, as well as loss of car keys ( up to £ 500). SPECIAL EXCLUSIONS it is a condition of all Icelandic car insurance that the driver is always responsible for damage caused by certain types of local driving conditions. For example, insurance polices ( standard and upgraded) do not cover: damage to the vehicle due to driving through rivers or any kind of water, through a sand storm or off road. Damage to tyres, windscreen, suspension, headlights, or any damage caused by loose stones which may hit the car on gravel roads damage to the underside of the vehicle damage caused by animals damage to the interior of a vehicle all policies are invalid if the driver is found to be intoxicated or breaking the law, or driving with gross negligence. OPTIONAL EXTRAS a charge of £ 6 per day ( max £ 35) is payable for a baby seat ( infant under 2 years old) or a booster seat ( for a child over 2 years) which must be added to your booking prior to travelling. A GPS unit is available at £ 12 per day ( max £ 100). Trailers are available for vehicle groups I, J and K - price on request. ADDITIONAL VEHICLE CATEGORIES it is possible to upgrade to some higher specifi cation models such as a VW Touareg or even an AMC Hummer H2 - minimum rental period is 24hrs. Vehicles aimed at larger groups, for example the Toyota Hiace which seats 9, may also be rented, subject to availability - please contact us for further information. SUPERJEEP RENTALS these vehicles are rented through a company called ISAK and not Europcar ( see page 78 for details). ISAK's specifi c rental terms may be found on our website. Please note Iceland has similar laws to the UK on the wearing of seatbelts and the non- use of mobile phones whilst driving. All vehicles are non- smoking and standard 2WD vehicles are strictly prohibited from driving on ' F' roads ( unpaved) or mountain routes ( fi nes will apply).
