The next day enjoy a half-day city tour ofRangoon (Yangon), taking in the old British colonial buildings andthe golden spires of spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda. In the eveningwe board our Pagan bound train. Days 3-4 PaganAfter anovernight train, discover the magnificent archaeological site ofPagan (Bagan). Aboard a bicycle, explore many of the temples,stupas and pagodas that litter the lush plains. Days 5-7 MandalayPerhaps see the Buddhist monk procession over U Bien Bridge atsunset, take a boat ride on the Irrawaddy River and witness dailyrural life unfolding. There is also time to visit Mingun to see the bigbell and the foundations for what would have been the world'sbiggest stupa. Day 8 KalawEnroute to Inle Lake we stay in Kalaw,a small town nestled in rugged mountain scenery with a backpackervibe and many options for hikes. Days 9-11 Inle LakeEncircled bytowering mountains deep in the highlands, Inle Lake is absolutelystunning. From our base in the township of Nyaungshwe, enjoy afull day boat tour of the lake, see the floating gardens and markets,and the artistry of the leg-rowing Intha fishermen. We also have afree day to explore the area. Days 12-13 Kyaiktiyo-BagoWetravel to Heho and catch a flight to Rangoon. We then head toKyaiktiyo and spend the night on the hilltop alongside theincredible balancing rock - one of the country's most holy andmoving sites. Afterwards, drop in to Bago to see the reclining, 55metre-high Shwethalyaung Buddha, before returning to Rangoon.Days 14-15 RangoonWe have a free day to explore Rangoon sothere will be time to visit some of Rangoon's other sights or shop forsouvenirs in Bogyoke Market.
