The town became famous in the 19th century when the rubber trade boomed and the local rubber barons built lavish mansions with their new found wealth. ( B) DAYS 11 & 12: AMAZON EXCURSION- We journey into the Amazon, by bus and canoe, to our jungle lodge. We spend two nights here and have plenty of time to explore on foot and by canoe with our local wildlife guide.
