The majestic Iguazu Falls, on the border between Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, make for one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders in the world. Situated in the middle of the rainforest, some 275 individual cascades plummet over the cliffs and into the gorge below. This afternoon we visit the Brazilian side with our guide. ( B) DAY 4: IGUAZU FALLS- Visit the Argentinian side of the falls, getting up close to the thundering waters. ( B) DAY 5: IGUAZU - SAO PAULO- Fly to Sao Paulo, a cosmopolitan metropolis which is now the third largest city in the world. ( B) DAY 6: SAO PAULO - PANTANAL- Fly to Campo Grande, the gateway to the Pantanal wetland area. Our host for the next three day will welcome us to his ' fazenda' ( ranch). ( BLD) DAYS 7 & 8: PANTANAL- The Pantanal is a vast natural wetland paradise. There is time to explore on foot or go horse- riding with the local gauchos, herd cattle and test your abilities with a lasso. ( BLD) DAY 9: PANTANAL - BRASILIA- Fly to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. It is an architectural gem of a city, with many buildings created by the famous Oscar Niemeyer. ( B) DAY 10: BRASILIA - MANAUS- Continue by flight to Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon. The town became famous in the 19th century when the rubber trade boomed and the local rubber barons built lavish mansions with their new found wealth. ( B) DAYS 11 & 12: AMAZON EXCURSION- We journey into the Amazon, by bus and canoe, to our jungle lodge. We spend two nights here and have plenty of time to explore on foot and by canoe with our local wildlife guide. ( BLD) DAY 13: AMAZON - MANAUS - SALVADOR- We return to Manaus and a long flight takes us to the colonial city of Salvador, a picturesque place with a strong Portuguese and African influence, situated on the Atlantic coast.
