Livingstone is on the Zambian/ Zimbabwean border with Victoria Falls creating a powerful backdrop nearby. DAY 2: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK- We leave Zambia behind and cross the border into Botswana, one of the least visited countries in Africa. ( LD) DAY 3: MAKGADIKGADI PANS- A long drive today as we head for the Makgadikgadi Pans. If conditions allow, we drive onto the pans to appreciate the boundless open space. We then head to our accommodation and take a short hike to a nearby waterhole, where we hope to see elephants. ( BLD) DAYS 4- 6: KHWAI RIVER- After breakfast we join local San Bushmen for a walk and have a chance to experience some of their traditions and lifestyle. We then head for the impressive wilderness area of the Khwai River. After arriving, we go on a night game drive to have the chance to spot some of the more elusive nocturnal creatures. We then spend two full days on game drives, exploring both the Khwai River area and Moremi Game Reserve, known as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa. Chances of spotting lion, leopard, buffalo and elephants are excellent. ( BLD) DAY 7: MAUN- We head back to Maun. Should you wish, there is the option of a scenic flight over the delta. ( BLD) DAYS 8 & 9: OKAVANGO DELTA- Today we head for the world's largest inland delta - the Okavango. An oasis of greenery in an arid region, wildlife gathers here in great numbers, and the many waterways offer unforgettable game viewing opportunities from mokoro dugout canoes. With speedboats we transfer to our base in the delta, where we spend the next two nights surrounded by wilderness and the sounds of animals and birds. We take a mokoro trip through the waterways, discovering the variety of wildlife, and also have a guided walk on one of the islands, hoping to spot elephants, waterbuck or any of the other creatures that call this place home. A real highlight of the trip. ( BLD) DAYS 10 & 11: KWANDO RIVER AND MUDUMU NATIONAL PARK- Drive along the Caprivi Strip to the Kwando River and take a game drive through Mudumu National Park, experiencing the remoteness, beauty and wilderness of this area and hoping to spot some of the animals it is famous for such as elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, crocodile, hippo and spotted necked otters. ( BLD) DAY 12: LIVINGSTONE- Leave the wilderness behind and drive back to Livingstone and Victoria Falls. The rest of the day is at leisure to visit the falls or take part in any of the adventure activities, such as bungi jumping, white water rafting and elephant- back safaris, that the town is so famous for. We take a game drive and a boat ride at nearby picturesque St Lucia as well as visiting a nearby Zulu village. ( BLD) DAYS 8 & 9: DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS-Travel into the Drakensberg Mountains. You will never see scenery like this anywhere else in the world. We have the opportunity to take a number of hikes, go fishing for trout, swim in clear mountain streams, or ride horses to get close to some of the many antelope species that live here. ( BLD) DAYS 10- 12: LESOTHO- The tiny country of Lesotho has to be one of the prettiest places on the continent. Old traditions abound here, giving us a fantastic opportunity to witness authentic village life. We embark on a two day pony trek through the mountains, spending one night in a local village hut. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the trip. ( BLD) DAY 13: KAROO- Leaving the mountains behind we travel through the deserts of the Karoo, an austere but beautiful area, and visit the Valley of Desolation. There are a number of optional activities available here; choose from exploring the forest canopy on a unique guided tour, exploring the national park on foot, mountain biking, snorkelling or canoeing.
