DAY 2: BANGKOK- We have an exciting klong ( canal) tour of Bangkok by longtail boat. ( BD) DAY 3: KANCHANABURI- This morning we travel to Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai. We then board a longtail boat to get to our jungle rafts. Spending the night in a floating bungalow surrounded by the jungle is a fabulous experience! There is also the chance to ride an elephant. ( BLD) DAY 4: KANCHANABURI- Today we spend the morning at the Erawan Waterfalls where we can swim and explore the natural beauty of the surroundings. In the afternoon we drive to Kanchanaburi and visit the famous Bridge on the River Kwai, before heading on to the beautiful island resort of Koh Kasem to spend the night. ( BL) DAY 5: BANGKOK - This morning we visit the new interactive museum exploring the history of the area. We also visit the Commonwealth cemetery before returning to Bangkok to catch the overnight train to Thailand's northern capital of Chiang Mai. ( BL) DAY 6: CHIANG MAI - Transfer to our comfortable hotel - which again has a pool. The day is free for you to swim and relax. ( B) DAY 7: CHIANG MAI - TRIBAL MOUNTAIN VILLAGE- Our day starts with a visit to an elephant training camp where we can see how these enormous creatures are trained for working in the jungle. After lunch we continue by pick- up truck to a small tribal village. We then continue on foot through mountainous terrain ( easy walking though!) to a Palong village where we spend the night in a traditional village house. ( BLD) DAY 8: ELEPHANT RIDE AND BAMBOO RAFTING- After breakfast we board our elephants for a short but exciting ride through the jungle. We then continue our adventurous day by floating on a bamboo raft down the river. Later we return to our Chiang Mai hotel. ( BL) DAY 9: CHIANG MAI- A full free day to relax by the pool or perhaps take a Thai cookery class. Venture into the night market this evening and try some exotic delicacies. ( BD) DAY 10: CHIANG MAI - BANGKOK- A second full day to relax or explore. In the evening we board our overnight train back to Bangkok. ( B) DAY 11: BANGKOK - KOH CHANG- We arrive in Bangkok and transfer to the beautiful island of Koh Chang, the second largest but least known of Thailands' tropical islands. DAYS 12 & 13: KOH CHANG- Koh Chang is part of the Koh Chang Marine National Park and contains virgin rainforest, breathtaking waterfalls, colourful coral reefs and beautiful beaches. ( B) DAY 3: CHIANG MAI- Today we visit the hilltop temple of Doi Suthep, which legend says was founded by an ancient Thai king after he saw a white elephant at the site. We will also visit the orphanage supported by Imaginative Traveller for children from the area's hilltribe minority groups. ( B) DAYS 4- 6: ELEPHANT NATURE PARK-This morning we leave Chiang Mai and travel to the ' Elephant Nature Park', our home for the next three nights. In the jungle of Northern Thailand, Lek, the founder and her team of volunteers, house, feed and care for elephants that have been injured or abused. You and your family will have the chance to join in all the daily chores. It is a great chance to learn about these amazing animals. ( BLD) DAY 7: CHIANG MAI- Take a guided walk in to the jungle to explore, then continue by bamboo raft down the river. Return to Chiang Mai and visit the famous night market. ( BD) DAY 8: KRABI- Fly to Krabi via Bangkok. ( B) DAYS 9- 11: KRABI- Three whole days to relax on the beautiful sandy beaches of southern Thailand. ( B) DAY 12: BANGKOK- Fly back to Bangkok.
