BALI CHINA 227 FAMILY TOURS Imaginative Facts Tour code: FSTT • Activities: Walking through rice paddies and up volcanoes, boat trip with dolphins, swimming and optional snorkelling • Accommodation: 10 nights family- styled hotels most with swimming pools • Transport: Minivan, boat ( dolphin spotting) • Fully Escorted: By Imaginative Traveller tour leader, local representative DAY 1: SANUR- Arrive in Bali's Denpasar airport and be transferred to our hotel in Sanur Beach. Filled with quaint little shops and restaurants and away from the roaring surf of Kuta and Nusa Dua. DAY 2: UBUD- This morning we drive to the cultural heartland of this ancient island. In Ubud we will visit the Monkey Forest ( keep these creatures away from your valuables!) and Bali Bird Park. Afternoon is free to relax around the pool or do some optional cycling or even white water rafting. ( BD) DAY 3: UBUD- Morning walk through the rice paddies. Afternoon is free to wander around the famous handicraft market of Ubud or more optional activities like visiting the Elephant or Safari Park. ( B) DAY 4: LOVINA- We take a beautiful scenic drive via the Temples of Taman Ayun and the famous Tanah Lot as well as the market in Bedugul and the Gigit Waterfalls. We arrive at the black volcanic sand beach of Lovina on Bali's northern coast. ( BD) DAYS 5 & 6: LOVINA- Lovina is famous for its dolphins. So we rise really early before sunrise and travel by boat out to see the famous dolphins! We'll return to the hotel for breakfast then have plenty of time just to relax. You might want to visit the local hot springs, Buddhist Temples or seaside market or take a snorkelling adventure up the coast to Menjangan ( Deer Island) within the national park. ( B) DAY 7: KINTAMANI- We drive to Kintamani on the rim of Mount Batur via the provincial town of Singaraja. We are met by very beautiful and dramatic volcanic mountain scenery. ( B) DAY 8: KINTAMANI - SANUR BEACH- We have the option of a sunrise walk up to the crater of Mount Batur volcano crater - we might even cook eggs on the volcanic steam! Descend to the hot springs. On return to the hotel we'll drive back to sleepy Sanur via Besakih or Batur Temple and the local Bat Cave! Check back into our hotel in Sanur.( BD) DAYS 9 & 10: SANUR BEACH- Two full days to do your own exploring or last minute shopping or just relaxing around the great pool or on the quiet beach. Perhaps visit the Gao Miao Buddhist Temple and street markets. In the afternoon we take an exciting ride out into the desert on camels to our overnight camp. ( D) DAY 6: SHAPATOU - XI'AN- Watch the sunrise in the desert then continue to the roadhead by camel. We transfer to nearby Shapatou on the banks of the great Yellow River and the southern fringes of the Tengger Desert. You have the chance to raft down the Yellow River on inflatable sheepskins and even go sand tobogganing!! Return to Zhongwei for the overnight train to Xi'an. ( B) DAY 7: XI'AN- A free day to explore. Visit the Muslim quarter or take a bike ride on top of the city walls - the best way to view this wonderful ancient city. DAY 8: XI'AN - CHENGDU- Excursion to the famous Terracotta Warriors and the First Emperor's Tomb. After a picnic lunch we take a flight to Chengdu. DAY 9: CHENGDU- Excursion to the Panda Sanctuary, where we spend time with these delightful animals, as well as their less well-known cousin, the red panda. Free afternoon to explore the many parks for which Chengdu is famous, or perhaps sample the delicious local food. DAY 10: YANGSHUO- A flight to Guilin, in the heart of stunning limestone karst scenery, before continuing to the enchanting small town of Yangshuo, amidst one of the most beautiful areas of China. We have laid on a fun session of activities - cooking, tai- chi and painting / calligraphy - you might even learn how to write your name in Chinese characters! For those who want to be energetic, there are plenty of other opportunities including climbing, caving and bike riding. DAY 11: YANGSHUO- Take a bike ride through this amazing landscape and enjoy an opportunity for a swim to cool off. DAY 12: YANGSHUO - SHENZHEN- A free day to do as you please or hunt for souvenirs in the excellent markets. Afternoon transfer back to Guilin. Overnight train to Shenzhen. DAY 13: HONG KONG- Arrive in Shenzhen then take the train through the New Territories to Kowloon. The rest of the day is free to explore this bustling metropolis.
