DAYS 2 & 3: CAIRO- Morning guided tour of the Pyramids & Sphinx at Giza. Later we visit the Step Pyramid at Saqqara as well as Memphis, the ancient capital of Lower Egypt. The following day enjoy a full day tour. We see the treasures of the Egyptian Museum and visit the Citadel with its commanding views over Cairo. In the afternoon we travel through the Nile Delta to Alexandria on the Mediterranean. We stay in the Windsor Hotel, a lovely old colonial building situated on the shores of the Mediterranean. ( BD) DAY 4: ALEXANDRIA- Visit the National Museum and the Catacombs of Kom al Shuqafa as well as Pompey's Pillar. In the late afternoon we drive back to Cairo where we board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan. ( BD) DAYS 5 & 6: ASWAN- Arrive early in Aswan and transfer to the comfortable Basma Hotel, situated on a hilltop with panoramic views over the Nile. Later in the afternoon we take a boat ride to the Temple of Isis on Philae Island. The following morning an early flight takes us to the magnificent temple of Abu Simbel. There is then time to relax by the hotel pool before taking a sunset felucca cruise around the beautiful islands of the Nile. ( BD) DAY 7: NILE CRUISE- We board our luxury Nile cruise boat in time for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is then free to explore the bazaars of Aswan. ( BLD) DAY 8: NILE CRUISE- Watch the world drift by from on board our boat. There is always something to see, whether it is donkeys working in the fields or children playing in the water on the edge of the river. We stop to visit the riverside temple of Kom Ombo. ( BLD) DAY 9: NILE CRUISE - LUXOR- Continue along the Nile to Luxor, stopping along the way to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. ( BLD) DAY 10: LUXOR- Rise early to visit the amazing tombs at the Valley of the Kings. We also visit Hatshepsut's temple, the Workers' Village and the amazing Colossi of Memnon before we return to Luxor. The afternoon is free.
