Rock- carved monuments, bustling temple cities, a surprising array of wildlife and an enormous variety of scenery. However there are less- visited little enclaves offering hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. What about Ladakh? A dramatic mountain kingdom and one of the world's most remote corners of Buddhism. Or Bhutan, another isolated land, with a fiercely guarded culture and fascinating Buddhist heritage. Both offer different insights to the better known Nepal and Tibetan Himalayan experiences. Heading South we have the glorious coastal scenes of Sri Lanka and Goa. The entire area is truly a destination of surprises.
