The next day we visit the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature and the infamous Hoa Lo Prison ('Hanoi Hilton'). In the evening we board the Reunification Express to Hue.Day 3 / Hue Hue is rich in history and archaeological treasure. There is time to explore the city's massive citadel, before cycling through the surrounding countryside. We then board a 'dragon boat' and cruise the Perfume River.Day 4-5 / Hoi An Hoi An's eclectic architecture, influenced by successive waves of Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese and Dutch merchants, was spared the ravages of Vietnam's 20th century wars and today remains a living museum of a bygone age.Day 6-8 / Nha Trang We enjoy a relaxing cruise on the South China Sea, with the opportunity to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters. After our fantastic beach break, we rejoin the train to Saigon.Day 9 / Saigon Saigon is home to nearly eight million people and is vastly different to its northern cousin, Hanoi. Choose to explore the city or take a day trip to the Mekong Delta (additional cost).Day 10 / Saigon We start the day with a walking orientation tour of Saigon to visit the Reunification Palace, War Remnants museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and the General Post office. The afternoon is free to further explore this vibrant city.Day 11-12 / Cu Chi Tunnels - Phnom Penh It's a short drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the guerilla stronghold made famous during the Vietnam War. We explore this amazing tunnel network before heading across the border into neighbouring Cambodia and on to the capital, Phnom Penh. The following day we explore the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda on a cyclo tour, as well as visit Tuol Sleng Prison Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek.Day 13-15 / Siem Reap - Angkor We travel further north, skirting the massive Tonle Sap Lake, to the peaceful town of Siem Reap. Our Cambodian guide will take us on an extensive tour of the great World Heritage site of Angkor.Day 16 / Siem Reap - Bangkok We continue our journey, travelling on a rough road to the Cambodia-Thai border town of Poipet, before heading to Bangkok.Day 17-18 / Bangkok We are introduced to some of Bangkok's most famous sights on a short walking tour, including the impressive Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha. We also have free time to explore this vibrant and modern city for ourselves.
