Spend a night enjoying the hospitality of a Vietnamese family in their house on an island in the Mekong Delta.Trip InfoDeparture DatesDay 1 / Saigon No activities are planned for Day 1, so you can arrive in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) at any time.Day 2-3 / Mekong Delta We drive southward into the Mekong Delta and explore the lively waterways by riverboat, before spending the evening with friends on our peaceful island homestay. The next day we continue exploring the river and delta by sampan and on foot.Day 4 / Cu Chi Tunnels It's a short drive to the Cu Chi tunnels, the guerrilla stronghold made famous during the Vietnam War. We explore the amazing tunnel network above and below ground before returning to Saigon.Day 5-6 / Dalat Take a scenic bus trip through Vietnam's picturesque Central Highlands to Dalat. The town is tucked snug beside the beautiful Xuan Huong Lake and has retained much of its charming architecture. Explore at leisure, either by bicycle or on foot.Day 7-9 / Nha Trang On our way to the seaside resort city of Nha Trang, visit the 13th century Cham tower of Po Klong Garai. From Nha Trang, cruise on the South China Sea out to nearby islands and enjoy swimming, snorkelling and relaxing on the beaches.Day 10-11 / Hoi An For more than 300 years, Hoi An was the most important port in central Vietnam, visited by sailing ships from all over the world seeking trade in silk, ceramics and spices. Walk the quaint streets and stalls still infused with a fascinating history.Day 12-13 / Hue Travel through sensational coastal scenery to the former imperial capital of Hue. Cycle through the peaceful Perfume River Valley then return to town by dragon boat cruise to meet the Reunification Express for the overnight train journey north.Day 14-15 / Hanoi The nation's capital has a distinctive charm best explored on foot. The backstreets and laneways of Hanoi's Old Quarter are the perfect place to immerse yourself in the culture of the far east, of ancient times, colonial days and now. Get amongst it all on a half-day city tour before sauntering the streets on your own.Day 16-18 / Halong Bay - Hanoi Embark on a relaxing cruise through the spectacular islands and coves of Halong Bay. Watch the sunset over the towering limestone islets aboard your cruise boat before a night lulled to sleep by the gentle lap of the sea. After a further morning cruise, we return to Hanoi.
