There are some great museums containing priceless artefacts of the Inca and coastal civilisations, and the centre of Lima has some amazing colonial churches and buildings. Day 3-4 / Cusco High up in the Andes is Cusco, the former Inca capital. We visit the Plaza de Armas, the great cathedral and main museum, then the Inca site of Sacsayhuaman and the market town of Pisac in the beautiful Sacred Valley. Day 5-9 / Inca Trail Trek - Cusco Our trek leads us high into the mountains to Peru's most famous site - incredible Machu Picchu. We have time to explore the stunning ruins before returning to Cusco for a final day of discovery. Day 10-12 / Puno - Lake Titicaca Our next stop is beautiful Lake Titicaca, where we visit the floating islands of the Uros Indians. We stay overnight with an Indian family in their home on the island of Amantani, a cultural exchange at its best! Day 13-14 / La Paz We cross the frontier into Bolivia and travel through Copacabana to the capital, La Paz. We roam the narrow cobblestone streets of this very Indian city, built on the slopes of a deep canyon, and visit the Witches' Market. Day 15-16 / Uyuni Salt Desert We make the train journey around the edge of Lake Poopo and through the mineral rich mountains of the altiplano to the town of Uyuni, our base for exploring the great salt desert by 4WD. The scenery here is stunning. Day 17-18 / Potosi Mount Cerro Rico dominates the town of Potosi, home to what was once the largest silver mine in the world. We take in the highlights of this lovely city. Day 19-20 / Sucre We drive to Sucre, one of the prettiest towns in Bolivia. Wander the streets of 'Old Sucre' and visit the Franciscan Monastery of La Recolta, the chapel of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the cathedral and the museum of La Casa de la Libertad. Day 21 / La Paz Our insight into Peru and Bolivia ends today with a flight back to La Paz.
