There's time here to discover the city and the nearby beaches. Day 3 / Tulum - Chetumal After an early start we reach Tulum, where crumbling Mayan ruins cling to the cliff top overlooking the beach. Absolutely stunning. We stay overnight in the town of Chetumal, close to the Belize border. Day 4-5 / Caye Caulker Belize City is our departure point for palm-fringed Caye Caulker. The Caye is a sand island on the edge of the world's second largest barrier reef. We enjoy swimming, diving and snorkelling amongst beautiful tropical fish and coral. Day 6-7 / Flores - Tikal Ruins After returning to Belize City, we head across the border into Guatemala and the town of Flores. Visit Tikal, the Mayan ruins in the Guatemalan jungle, then catch the overnight bus to Guatemala City and on to Antigua. Day 8-10 / Antigua Antigua is amongst the oldest and most beautiful towns in the Americas, set in a valley encircled by three volcanoes. Our leader will show us the highlights and lead us to the summit of a nearby volcano. Our trip ends in the morning of Day 10. There's time to discover some of the rich archaeological sites and to swim in the Caribbean's warm waters.Day 5-6 / Santa Marta - Bogota We return to Santa Marta, where we have time to explore the city before flying to Bogota.Day 7-8 / Bogota Bogota is home to many colonial era churches, large plazas and great museums. Apart from being the financial centre of the nation, it also has some of South America's best nightlife.Day 9 / Bogota - Zipaquira - Vila de Leyva We depart early for the village of Villa de Leyva, stopping at Zipaquira to visit the ancient salt mines and the incredible salt cathedral. Villa de Leyva is one of the most beautiful colonial villages in Colombia.Day 10 / Vila de Leyva - Raquira - Bogota Our main stop on the way back to Bogota is Raquira.
