DAY 2 / CAIRO - Visit the incredible Egyptian Museum, then head out to the amazing Pyramids and Sphinx. Tonight we have an exciting journey south aboard the sleeper train to Aswan. DAY 3 / ASWAN - Put those bartering skills to good use in the colourful Aswan bazaar! This afternoon we hop on camels and also take a wonderful felucca trip and sail around Aswan's islands like the locals. DAY 4 / ASWAN - There is the option to visit the dramatic temple of Abu Simbel before boarding our Nile cruise boat. DAY 5 / NILE CRUISE - Meander down the Nile drinking in the scenery of river-life as it passes by. Visit Komombo and Edfu temples. DAY 6 / LUXOR - Arrive in Luxor. Take horse-drawn carriages to the mighty Karnak Temple. DAY 7 / LUXOR - Visit the massive Valley of the Kings. The afternoon is free before we board the sleeper train again back to Cairo. DAY 8 / CAIRO - We spend a morning at the fascinating Pharaonic Village, where we gain a fun, interactive insight into life in ancient Egypt, before exploring the bustling byways of Khan el Khalili bazaar. The afternoon is free for some final souvenir shopping. DAYS 9-10 / SINAI - Drive to the Sinai where we have an optional sunrise ascent of Mount Sinai before catching the hydrofoil to the Red Sea resort of Aqaba in Jordan. DAY 11 / WADI RUM - Drive to Wadi Rum and ride camels to our traditional Bedouin camp deep in the heart of this spectacular setting- a real highlight!DAY 12 / WADI RUM - Morning hike around the eerie sandstone formations of Wadi Rum, then drive to Petra. DAY 13 / PETRA - We take a full day to discover the amazing city of Petra. With a history stretching back at least 2300 years, Jerash is one of the finest examples of a provincial Roman town anywhere in the world. Its extraordinarily complete remains, which include a forum, hippodrome, two theatres and several temples are mind blowing. We have ample time to wander around and imagine life 2000 years ago before returning to Amman to visit some of the city sights, including the Citadel.Day 3 / Wadi Rum Take the Desert Highway to Wadi Rum. En route we drive to Madaba, famous for its 6th century mosaics set in the ground like giant jigsaws. Just beyond is Mount Nebo; the final resting-place of Moses. Upon arrival in Wadi Rum, set-off on a 4WD desert discovery, passing nomads on your journey. Camp out overnight in a traditional Bedouin tent or under the stars. Day 4 / Wadi Rum & Aqaba This morning we explore more of the wadi and then drive to Aqaba to relax on the beach before making the journey by bus through spectacular mountain scenery to the town of Wadi Musa; situated on the edge of the Araba Valley. Day 5 / Petra This morning we go to the fabled site, after a walk through the siq, you're rewarded by a glimpse of the most beautiful building of all - the Khazneh or Treasury. Then explore the rest of this ancient lost city. Day 6 / Dana Nature Reserve The reserve aims to protect some of Jordan's endangered species, including ibex, mountain gazelle, wolf and red fox. Spend time exploring this fascinating reserve, taking a guided walk along old paths through the mountains. Day 7 / Dead Sea Leaving Dana head to the small town of Kerak. Here a formidable Crusader castle overlooks a long, winding road down to the Dead Sea. Amazingly a great deal of the structure remains intact, and you can explore the dungeons, passages and kitchens of the castle. After visiting Kerak descend lower and lower to the shores of the Dead Sea - at 400 metres below sea level it's the lowest place on earth. Here the mineral content of the water is so dense that anybody attempting to swim finds that they float, rather than sink!
