With a history stretching back at least 2300 years, Jerash is one of the finest examples of a provincial Roman town anywhere in the world. Its extraordinarily complete remains, which include a forum, hippodrome, two theatres and several temples are mind blowing. We have ample time to wander around and imagine life 2000 years ago before returning to Amman to visit some of the city sights, including the Citadel.Day 3 / Wadi Rum Take the Desert Highway to Wadi Rum. En route we drive to Madaba, famous for its 6th century mosaics set in the ground like giant jigsaws. Just beyond is Mount Nebo; the final resting-place of Moses. Upon arrival in Wadi Rum, set-off on a 4WD desert discovery, passing nomads on your journey. Camp out overnight in a traditional Bedouin tent or under the stars. Day 4 / Wadi Rum & Aqaba This morning we explore more of the wadi and then drive to Aqaba to relax on the beach before making the journey by bus through spectacular mountain scenery to the town of Wadi Musa; situated on the edge of the Araba Valley. Day 5 / Petra This morning we go to the fabled site, after a walk through the siq, you're rewarded by a glimpse of the most beautiful building of all - the Khazneh or Treasury. Then explore the rest of this ancient lost city. Day 6 / Dana Nature Reserve The reserve aims to protect some of Jordan's endangered species, including ibex, mountain gazelle, wolf and red fox. Spend time exploring this fascinating reserve, taking a guided walk along old paths through the mountains. Day 7 / Dead Sea Leaving Dana head to the small town of Kerak. Here a formidable Crusader castle overlooks a long, winding road down to the Dead Sea. Amazingly a great deal of the structure remains intact, and you can explore the dungeons, passages and kitchens of the castle. After visiting Kerak descend lower and lower to the shores of the Dead Sea - at 400 metres below sea level it's the lowest place on earth. Here the mineral content of the water is so dense that anybody attempting to swim finds that they float, rather than sink! Day 8 / Trip EndsJourney to the Lost City 8 daysExplore lost cities, ancient castles and deserts.Experience the best of the desert kingdom of Jordan - explore a lost city built of rock, enjoy a 4WD desert discovery, play at being gladiators in Jerash and visit a Crusader castle. Plus you'll still have time to relax in the Dead Sea!Trip InfoDeparture DatesMinimum age: 5 yearsTransport: Minibus, 4WD, on footAccommodation: Hotels (5nts), guesthouse (1nt), Bedouin camp (1nt, multi-share)Meals: 7 breakfasts, 1 lunch & 2 dinnersTour code: FFJOStart FinishStart Finish201119-Feb 26-Feb09-Apr 16-Apr12-Apr 19-Apr15-Apr 22-Apr17-Apr 24-Apr28-May 04-Jun23-Jul 30-Jul06-Aug 13-Aug21-Oct 28-Oct22-Oct 29-Oct23-Oct 30-Oct26-Dec 02-Jan201211-Feb 18-Feb23-Mar 30-Mar24-Mar 31-Mar31-Mar 07-Apr01-Apr 08-Apr07-Apr 14-Apr27-May 03-Jun02-Jun 09-Jun21-Jul 28-Jul04-Aug 11-Aug19-Oct 26-Oct20-Oct- 27-Oct21-Oct 28-Oct26-Dec 02-Jan
