Day 2 / Cairo - overnight train See the treasures in the Egyptian Museum and visit the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx at Giza. In the evening we board the first-class sleeper train to Luxor. Day 3 / Luxor Arrive and transfer to MS Melodie, our Nile cruise boat. Take a horse-drawn carriage to the great Karnak Temple. Day 4 / Valey of the Kings - Nile cruise - Edfu We get up before sunrise and ride donkeys to the Valley of the Kings. Our route back offers magnificent views of the Nile Valley and passes the Colossi of Memnon. Day 5 / Nile Cruise - Kom Ombo Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu before sailing south to the riverside temple of Kom Ombo. On arrival, we visit the temple dedicated to the crocodile god, Sobek. We moor for the night in Kom Ombo. Day 6 / Nile Cruise - Aswan We sail to Aswan, where the rest of the day is free to explore this evocatively beautiful town. Day 7 / Aswan Free day in Aswan. This is a chance to take an optional visit to the magnificent Temples of Abu Simbel - either by bus or by air. Day 8 / Nile Cruise - Edfu A day cruising back down the Nile. Observe everyday life along the river as we head towards Edfu. Day 9 / Nile Cruise - Luxor We cruise back to Luxor were we enjoy our last evening on board the Melodie. Day 10 / Luxor - Hurghada We disembark our riverboat in Luxor this morning. Travel to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada. Day 11 / Cairo Drive along the Red Sea coast on our return journey to Cairo. Day 12 / Wadi Rayan - Valey of Whales - Faiyoum - Cairo We enjoy a full day 4WD excursion, visiting Qarun's Ptolemaic temple and the protected area of Wadi Rayan - site of the only waterfall in Egypt. We continue to the World Heritage-listed Valley of Whales.Day 13 / Cairo Our tour ends after breakfast in Cairo.
