The Icehotel is the world's coolest hotel - literally! Gracing the pages of many a glossy magazine and books informing the reader of 'must-visit' places, this testament to art and design sits in a tiny hamlet 200km above the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland. Only when you stand beneath the sparkling ice chandelier in the hotel's main hallway, can you appreciate its scale and true magnificence. During the day the Icehotel is a living art gallery, open to visitors until 6pm when it becomes an exclusive hotel only for private guests.Discover the World has been arranging holidays across the Arctic region for nearly 30 years. In fact we've been offering holidays to Swedish Lapland for longer than the Icehotel has been in operation! Our collection of short winter breaks with the option to kick back and relax or be as active as you wish, fulfil the dreams of a wide variety of travellers including, hopefully, yours. When you call our team of dedicated travel specialists you can be sure the information and advice they provide comes from first hand experience. Travel with the expertsvisit discover-the-world.co.uk/icehoteltalk to the experts 01737 218 804 The Icehotel has to be the best advertisement for recycling in the extreme. With an ingenious mix of ice and snow, plenty of engineering know-how and supreme design flare, it is created in December then left to melt back into the river Torne in April, with no two designs ever the same. The 2009/2010 incarnation celebrated the twentieth anniversary - each year heralding more ingenious and even quirkier themes. Consisting of a range of sleeping accommodation (the top-of-the range Art Suites never ceasing to generate jaw-dropping reactions), and a spectacular Icebar, the rooms radiate from a magnificent central hallway, complete with ice crystal chandeliers. Close by, but with a separate entrance, is a magical Ice Chapel for those truly white weddings. When first hearing about the Icehotel you're likely to have a lot of questions such as what is actually there, where do you shower and isn't it too cold to sleep? Answers to all these questions may be found on our website or why not give our travel specialists a call - they'll be more than happy to tell you all about it.In the meantime, be assured that you won't lose sleep whilst spending your night in an ice room (the thermal sleeping bags are particularly cosy) and that there are plenty of warm showers to be had as well as sauna facilities, a couple of bars, lounges and an excellent restaurant onsite. There is also a log-cabin style restaurant just far enough away for you to walk off your meal afterwards, with perhaps the northern lights illuminating your way home.Take a look at the many holidays we offer, solely based at the Icehotel or combined with other amazing locations. And remember a stay here isn't just about the Icehotel. It is about a complete experience and one that you should definitely have for yourself. The Icehotelvisit discover-the-world.co.uk/icehoteltalk to the experts 01737 218 804 |
