SwedenTime to travel December to AprilSwedish Lapland is our most popular winter destination, largely due to it being home to the original and world-famous Icehotel. And with our chartered 3½ hour direct flights linking London with Kiruna, getting there couldn't be simpler. We offer several trips based at the Icehotel, solely or as part of a multi-centre holiday. It is also possible to fly there via Stockholm which gives you the opportunity to stay over in this lively capital city.Jukkasjarvi, a tiny hamlet around 200 km north of the Arctic Circle and just a short drive from Kiruna, is home to the Icehotel and has been for over twenty years. However, as it is built to a different layout each December, then left to melt back into the river Torne in April, no two Icehotels are the same. This testament to art and design is totally unique and has to be seen to be believed. The scale is breathtaking as is the attention to detail, so expect your camera to be busy!Once standing in the main hallway beneath an ice crystal chandelier, you'll discover that all the superlatives used to describe the world's most unusual hotel are most certainly true. The variety of snow rooms and suites, many themed with the most intricate ice carvings and amazing ice 'furniture' offer an overnight stay that you'll remember forever. Sleeping on ice is far more comfortable and warmer than you may think. Most people are surprised at the quality of sleep they get whilst here, cosseted in a thermal sleeping bag, before being woken with a hot lingonberry juice from a smiling, silver-caped attendant. During the daytime take a tour around this living art gallery, camera in hand, and marvel at the different guestrooms and sensational Icebar. In the evening, head back to the Icebar where, you've guessed it, drinks are served in chunky ice glasses, and chill out in the coolest bar in the world. Icehotel Break I Festive Icehotel I Northern Lights & the Icehoteltalk to the experts 01737 218 804 9 The nearby Icehotel Restaurant is a traditional wooden building with a contemporary interior - used for buffet breakfast and evening meals, chosen from a locally-inspired menu and served to an exceptionally high standard. There is also a stylish bar. The Homestead is a rustic log cabin restaurant about a 15 minute stroll from the Icehotel. Serving a hearty buffet dinner, you'll be glad of the walk back afterwards! The lobby bar in the main reception of the Icehotel complex serves delicious coffee, cakes and light snacks. When not sleeping in an ice room, there is a choice of heated accommodation: a chic 'hotel-style' Kaamos room for two; a two-bedroom Nordic chalet or a Northern Lights chalet, which comes complete with skylights for that all-important aurora watching - breakfast is included throughout. Our ICEHOTEL BREAK offers 3 or 4 nights with a single night 'sleeping on ice'. There is plenty of free time for you to rest, rejuvenate and explore your scenic surrounds perhaps by husky sledge, snowmobile or reindeer safari. The flexibility of this trip means it appeals to all ages, except families with young children. Our HUSKY ADVENTURE sees you out on the trail in charge of your own team of dogs, with a night at the Icehotel to finish. The festive season is a time for celebration and where better than the Icehotel to share Christmas or New Year with friends and family? The scenery couldn't be more appropriate and the atmosphere more magical. And instead of fireworks, Mother Nature could well provide her own.
