Very often just listening to others describe how they are feeling or coping can help us to relate to some of the feelings and emotions we may be experiencing but fi nd it diffi cult to talk about ourselves. Hopefully the meetings create a space where you can say how it really is. It is also a place where Dads have a chance to talk to other Dads, as very often they are or can feel excluded, as most of the focus tends to be on the mother. Many parents also fi nd that the meetings are helpful to discuss issues that arise when you have other children. If you have any questions or concerns about the meetings do not hesitate to give us a call on 01 872 6996. Support Team The ISANDS Supoprt Team are a group of bereaved parents who have been trained to facilitate Parent Support Meetings and offer telephone support to families. Fair play to you lads, it is easy to see you enjoyed the experience! On the 14th November 2007 these happy men pictured below and more, braved the fronts and were stripped of the masculinity in aid of our charity, could we ask for more! Waxed and shined up like new and joking aside, well done to the lads for taking part. There was huge support from family, friends and colleagues of Sinead Purdy who organised the event in memory of her nephew, Jamie. Thank you lads for being good sports and to everyone who came along and joined in the fun. It was a wonderful night’s entertainment and laughs ( maybe not for the participants!) and our thanks to everyone for their support to Sinead and ISANDS. A special word of thanks to Mick Foran, David ( sprocket) Foran, Paul Young, Philip Croke, Kevin Croke, Alan Smullen, Damien Murphy, Sean Reid, Reggie, Peter Henihan, Krishna Kumar, Chris Zetala and Vincent Shadlow who donated various body parts, and to Fiona Seavers who performed all of the waxing, and all the local businesses and community in Artane for their generous support. The event raised an amazing € 2616.50!! Our thanks to Sinead Purdy for her incredible determination to organise and host this wonderful evening of fun for her sister, Niamh and in memory of her nephew, Jamie. Our thanks also to Sinead’s family for their encouragement and support and everyone concerned for their kindness and generosity. Ron isands newsletter 20 |
