08 lime October - December 2008 athome SEA VIEW Though treacherous to swim in, the Atlantic waves along Barbados' east coast make it a popular surfing destination, and the country now boasts a burgeoning surfing fraternity, including regular visits from stars such as Kelly Slater. Each November, leading surfers from around the world are drawn to the famous " soup bowl" in Bathsheba to participate in the annual Reef Classic. This year's event, from November 3- 5, is for the first time part of the Latin American and Caribbean Pro tour, which is a growing indication of the sport's increasing popularity in the region.
