Parent Support MeetingsParent Support Meetings create an unique opportunity for parents to meet other bereaved parents. Some parents may share their own experience or just listen to other parents telling their story. There is no pressure to talk at all. Very often just listening to others describe how they are feeling or coping can help us to relate to some of the feelings and emotions we may be experiencing but find it difficult to talk about ourselves. Hopefully the meetings create a space where you can say how it really is if you want to.It is also a place where Dads have a chance to meet other Dads, as very often they are or can feel excluded, as most of the focus tends to be on the mother. If you have any questions or concerns about the meetings do not hesitate to give us a call - Tel- 01 872 6996 or Email - info@alittlelifetime.ieDublin ~The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Naas Rd, Parent Support Meetings -Facilitated by Peter Hanlon and ALLFTuesday Oct. 19th - 8-10pmTuesday Nov. 16th - 8-10pmInformal Christmas Get Together - Louis Fitzgerald Hotel Saturday Dec. 18th - 2-4pmCork ~The River Lee Hotel, formerly Jurys HotelParent Support Meetings -Facilitated by Peter Hanlon and ALLFSaturday Nov. 13th - 2-4pmAthlone ~Hodson Bay HotelParent Support Meetings -Facilitated by Peter Hanlon and ALLFWednesday Nov. 24th - 8-10pmCavan ~Cavan Crystal HotelParent Support Meetings -Facilitated by Peter Hanlon and ALLFWednesday Dec. 1st - 8-10pmParent Support Meetings are currently being reviewed.Sorry - there are no childcare facilities available.Meetings are for adults only.Harry Nash ~a son to - Ian & Kelly Nash, DublinDavid Little ~a son to - Gerry & Maria Little, DublinWe Greet Our New ArrivalsLadies first ~Marlene Fenton ~a daughter to - Owen & Alexandra Fenton, WexfordEmma Donnelly,~a daughter to - Frank & Lisa Donnelly, OffalyEilish Michelle ~ a daughter to - John & Sinead Henneberry, DublinSophie Harkin Boylan ~ a daughter to - Anthony Boylan & Maureen Harkin (Longford) LondonLily Doherty ~ a daughter to - Clive & Helena Doherty, DonegalEmma Louise Collins ~ a daughter to - John & Marie Collins, DublinAmalie McCormack ~a daughter to - Stephen & Pamela McCormack, CavanAnd Gentlemen ...moments50

Real appreciation for funding from HSE in these harsh times. These are harder times and all charities are finding it harder to source the plentiful funds that were about a couple of years ago. Very few have spare cash anymore, it is more uncertain so when trying to plan and budget expenditure it is more difficult to gauge in the current climate. For that reason we are very grateful to Minister Harney, Minister for Health & Children and HSE Officials for there continued support to our charity in providing us with ?21,856.00 for this year so far.We also receive a ?5000. grant from the Family Support Agency towards our Services of Remembrances. Our thanks to everyone concerned for their support. We are so aware that there are many charities who also need support and appreciate that we are helped and supported in these harsh times. It does mean that a little of the pressure is lifted and the funds raised by families and friends can be used to develop other services and support. We do well to run the charity on the funds we have each year but simply couldn't do it without all our volunteers. The charity is run solely by volunteers. We have a part time employee for 9 hours per week to process the post in the main office and all other administration and support services are run by volunteers. My sincere thanks to all who continue to do what they do for us.RonParent Support Meetings continue to be assessed...Parent Support Meetings took place in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Athlone, Donegal and Cavan so far this year. The numbers of Parents attending varied, with large numbers in Dublin, Cork and Athlone. Others areas may take more time to get established. We also organised a meeting in Waterford but no one turned up for it but we will look at this again .We have changed the format of our meetings and while it is still under review, the new type meeting of Informal and Formal seems to be easier for Parents to attend. The feedback is good and we always welcome that. For the Formal meetings we invite Peter Hanlon, Bereavement Therapist, HSE, Dublin to outline various aspects of grief from his experience of working with families. He also facilitates discussions and gives Parents the opportunity to bounce questions or open discussions about some of the new and sometimes scary feelings they may be experiencing. We have had wonderful feedback on the meetings and would like to thank Peter for his input and for travelling all over Ireland which allowed us to offer the same service to all parents. After an interval for a cuppa members of the ALLF Support Team chat informally to parents in a relaxed way. It is also a great opportunity to follow through on issues, topics that Peter raised. We host Informal Meetings in between Peters presentations and these are facilitated by members of the ALLF Support Team. Parents simply chat amongst themselves over a cuppa and some really helpful discussions takes place in the small group settings. Both meeting types seems to be successful and beneficial in different ways. We hope to continue these meetings for the forthcoming year and also host some in new areas around the country. Our meetings are still under review and we will later decide what works best. If you have any questions in relation to the meetings please do not hesitate to make contact with us. We look forward to meeting more Parents in the future and also in new areas around the country. Notice by HSE in National Newspapers of their intentions to bury retained organs/tissue not claimed or for which hospitals had no instruction from families. The HSE placed notices in a number of national newspapers on the 30th August 2010 advising of their intentions to follow through on recommendations of the Willis/Carter reports with regard to unclaimed retained organs/tissues. The reports recommended that unclaimed and retained organs pre 2000 should be buried by July 2010. The hospitals have now received final instructions from the HSE that this should now proceed. Sensitive and respectful burial of pre 2000 retained and unclaimed organs/tissue will be completed within a three month time-frame. We have been assured that good practice in this area would be maintained as well as good records to allow for future reference for any parent who may need information about the burials at a later stage. A Little Lifetime Foundation asked for notices to be placed in national newspapers to give parents a final opportunity to respond before burials took place. We would like to thank Glasnevin Trust and the Rotunda Hospital for including us in their discussion in relation to this matter. We will continue to work with hospital representatives, HSE Officials and other interested parties in relation to this matter in the future.Miscarriage Association of Ireland Annual Service of RemembranceSt Teresa's Church, Donore Avenue, Dublin.14th November at 3pmSpecial thanks to Parents & Family Members who wrote for this edition.moments51
