Less than four hours from the UK and here is a landscape more reminiscent of the Wild West than North Africa. We fly into exotic Marrakesh and travel south almost to the fringes of the Sahara. Then, over five days, we trek through spectacular gorges, under towering cliffs and beneath huge buttresses of red rock, variously called such names as 'the camel' and 'the elephant'. We will also visit small villages where we meet friendly villagers and drink mint tea. After our trek we return to Marrakesh via Ourzazate with time to visit the historic Kasbah of Ait Benadou, now a World Heritage Site.Private departures We can also offer this trip as a private holiday for a minimum of two people sharing for £845 per person, Land Only. Continuing south we'll visit the impressive Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, walk amongst palm trees and oases on the edge of the desert and visit the Saadian city of Taroudant. We return to the mountains to enjoy walks in the dramatic High Atlas, before arriving at the coast to relax in the atmospheric whitewashed port of Essaouira.
