Smith & Hope Library Chair A hand carved dark mahogany parcel gilt library open arm chair, the raised and scroll toprail carved with a plume and scrolls, the caned and loose antique brown leather button upholstered cushion seat and panel bar back above a ring turned and lotus leaf carved rail, the arm above winged leopard monopodiae supports with paw feet. The original after George Smith and Thomas Hope circa 1815. George Smith published a ' Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration', in 1808 and shared many aspects of furniture design with his contemporary Thomas Hope.
