Malawi & Zambia with Safari Drive Here is a journey we arranged for a couple who have done several Safari Drive trips to Africa and wanted something really different to their previous holidays. Remember, we create individual, tailor-made itineraries so please don’t feel you have to stick to the following; Day 1 Arrive in Lilongwe and stay overnight in a small, friendly hotel Day 2 Vehicle handover and full briefing. Drive towards the Zambian border and on through Chipata, camping en route at a pretty campsite overlooking the river Days 3-4 Head to Lochinvar National Park, a small, little-visited park with wonderful birdlife on the lagoon and a nice campsite. Explore the area by Land Rover Day 5 Carry on north, restocking in Lusaka on the way. Stay overnight at a good working farm on the Great North Road Days 6-7 Continue to Kasanka, another small National Park and a super place to explore. Stay at one of two lovely campsites. You can go between them on foot with the ranger, looking out for the shy sitatunga. Great driving Days 8-9 Set off north again into Bangwelu Swamps. This is a great opportunity to try and find the very rare shoebill stork with a local guide. Stay in a tented camp Days 10-11 Head to Kapishya Hot Springs to a shady campsite near the river. An ideal base for a visit to Shiwa N’Gandu. Heavenly opportunity to relax in the hot springs, in a wonderfully verdant setting Days 12-14 A long drive south to North Luangwa to stay at a comfortable, rustic camp with thatch and reed ensuite rooms on stilts. Fantastic guides with an emphasis on walking. Well known for Cookson’s wildebeest, lion and hugely diverse birdlife Day 15 Overnight in the very pretty Luambe National Park breaking the journey south Days 16-18 Carry on to South Luangwa to spend the next three nights in an excellent lodge on the banks of the Luangwa River. Lots of time to explore the area Day 19 Return to Lilongwe and spend your last night at a lovely, family-run farm 36
