After breakfast the day is yours to enjoy some free time: check your emails, go quad biking, even a spot of shopping. (B)DAY 8 Alice Springs to Renner Springs. Today we'll make tracks northwards, with an afternoon visit to the rock outcropping known as the Devil's Marbles a real highlight. This isolated geological formation is a spectacular sight and we'll also get an insight into its meaning to the indigenous people. Then we'll stop in at Tennant Creek, before making our way to Renner Springs where we'll get a taste of outback hospitality. (B,L,D)DAY 9 Renner Springs to Katherine - Manyallaluk. First stop today is the Daly Waters pub, a local beacon of culture and an important historical point: Qantas used this point to refuel planes in the early days of aviation. We'll then make our way to the oasis of Mataranka, where a swim in the cool blue waters is very much a possibility. Then we finish up in Katherine, where tonight the indigenous people will give us an insight into the journey from the "Dreamtime". (B,L,D)DAY 10 Katherine to Gunlom (Waterfall Creek). We start early today, first making our way through Katherine Gorge by canoe (or you can upgrade to a cruise). Expect towering cliffs surrounding lush vegetation, while we sweep across the azure waters. Then it's on to Edith Falls for another chance to get in the water, and a great place to stop for lunch. We then travel further north, arriving at Gunlom in the evening. (B,D)DAY 11 Gunlom to Jabiru. Today we visit the World Heritage site of Kakadu National Park, one of the true highlights of any Australian trip. Take in the ancient paintings of Nourlangie Rock, then get a view from up high at the nearby lookout. We'll then visit the Bowali Visitor's Centre for a look at the bigger picture, before turning in for the night. (B,L,D)DAY 12 Kakadu. Get a feel for Kakadu, where wetlands meets sub-tropical wildlife. There's an optional scenic flight in the morning before we travel to Ubirr, an important site for the Indigenous people. Take in the sunset over an inland version of paradise, before trying local delicacies such as crocodile or kangaroo. (B,L,D)DAY 13 Kakadu to Mt Bundy Station. We take part in a relaxed Guluyambi cruise along the East Alligator River - expect 14 Day Opals & Outbackbreathtaking scenery and an introduction to the indigenous culture and mythology of the region. We'll stop in Arnhem Land and be treated to a demonstration of traditional hunting and gathering, before heading back along the river. After lunch we'll make a stop at the Adelaide River Inn, before arriving at our homestead for the night and maybe go for an optional horse ride! (B,D)DAY 14 Mt Bundy Station to Darwin via Litchfield. First stop today is Litchfield National Park, an irresistible combination of lofty waterfalls, cool rainforests and peaceful swimming holes. We'll spend some time here, before heading up to Darwin, the biggest city in the Top End. As we finish our trip together, it's well worth exploring the place. We commence our journey in the cosmopolitan centre of Melbourne, one of the biggest cities in Australia. Making our way down the Victorian coast we visit renowned surfing areas such as Torquay, Bells Beach and Lorne. Then after lunch we make for the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk, before stopping in the seaside town of Port Campbell. (L,D)DAY 2 Great Ocean Road to Grampians National Park. The Great Ocean Road is renowned for its awesome rock formations, so prepare for sights like no other. We'll visit London Bridge, Loch Ard Gorge and The Arch, amongst others. Then in the afternoon we'll travel to the Grampians, a scintillating mix of rugged natural beauty that's steeped in Indigenous history. (B,D)DAY 3 Grampians National Park to Adelaide. You'll have plenty of chances for getting back to nature today, as there's optional hikes to Hollow Mountain, Mackenzie Falls or Reed Lookout on offer. Then we make head west, crossing the Murray River, into the Adelaide Hills and then the town of Adelaide. Enjoy the city's famed restaurant scene tonight in Gouger Street (own expense). (B,L)DAY 4 Adelaide. A free day to enjoy in the City of Churches. Enjoy a winery tour in the nearby Barossa Valley, take advantage of the free bicycle hire and explore at your own pace, even indulge in a little retail therapy and pick up some vintage clothing - the choice is yours! (B)DAY 5 Adelaide to Quorn. We take our leave from Adelaide and travel through the Clare Valley, savouring the rugged natural landscapes. Enjoy the view from Mt Remarkable lookout, before arriving in the Flinders Ranges. Spend the afternoon hiking around the area, reaching the summit of Dutchman's Stern for some amazing views of the Ranges. We then reach Quorn, our destination. (B,L,D)DAY 6 Flinders Ranges. Get a feel for one of the most surreal landscapes on earth - the Flinders Ranges. A place where Indigenous culture and heritage meets natural beauty, it's truly like no other place. Visit the natural amphitheatre of Wilpena Pound, a crater formed by an ancient meteor strike. Hike through some nearby desert tracks. Then in the afternoon view some traditional Indigenous rock paintings. Tonight perhaps even share a drink with the locals!
