Pay a visit to St Peter's in Vatican City, home to the Pope and the Catholic faith, not to mention the best 360 degree views of the city from the top of the Basilica. No trip to Rome would be complete without a stop at the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. Explore on your own or take an optional guided tour. (B)Day 3 Sorrento. Near modern day Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once a busy city until it was destroyed by eruptions from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. (B,D) Day 4 Sorrento. Carpe diem! Seize the day. You're free to do your own thing for a full day in Sorrento. Why not take the local bus along the scenic Amalfi coast to Positano? Tonight your mission is to track down the best Florentine steak as we make our own way to dinner. (B)Day 8 Cinque Terre. First we visit Lucca, a spectacular walled town where we enjoy a tour with a local guide. Now it is time to strike a pose, get out the cameras and start snapping.
