This afternoon we meet our Trip Leader for a tour of this funky city. Barcelona is a dynamic city where surreal architecture, a thriving port, and modern lifestyle offer a cultural cocktail! (D)Day 2 Barcelona. Discover what makes Barcelona tick. Gaze at Gaudí's bizarre works such as La Sagrada Familia or Park Güell, check out the Gothic historic centre or wander Las Ramblas, crowded with flower sellers and street performers, in search of a plate of tapas and a memento of Spain. Tonight check out a Flamenco show. (B)Day 3 Barcelona to Madrid. First stop today is Zaragoza, the capital of the autonomous community of Aragon, before arriving in magical Madrid. Here we see landmarks such as the Royal Palace, the home to one of Europe's oldest monarchies, and the Plaza de España, the city's main square. (B,D)Day 4 Madrid. There is free time today to taste the various cultural and artistic aspects of this cosmopolitan city! Visit the Prado Museum with its fine collection of European art, watch the passing parade in the Plaza Mayor, relax in the peaceful botanical gardens, or visit the home of Real Madrid if a football fan! (B)Day 5 Madrid to Valencia. This morning we visit the World Heritage City Toledo, once the capital city of Spain. We then cross to the coast and spend tonight in Valencia, situated in the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline. Why not try the traditional dish paella for dinner? (B,D)Day 6 Valencia. Start the day with a walking tour of the Old Quarter of Valencia, taking in such highlights as the Plaza Ayuntamento, Silk Exchange, Central Market, Plaza Redona, Plaza de la Reina, the Cathedral of Valencia and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken. The afternoon is ours to explore the rest of the city or head to the beach and port areas. (B)Days 7 - 8 Valencia to Ibiza. Lazy days and crazy nights. We catch a ferry across and have two days to explore this Mediterranean party paradise! Known for its world famous nightlife, clubs and top international DJs, Ibiza is the place to go to really let your hair down! Spend your days soaking up the sun by the beach or check out some of the island's untouched World Heritage Sites including "God's Finger" in the Benirràs Bay. (B,D) (B)Day 9 Ibiza to Barcelona. Today we head back to the mainland to Barcelona for our final night and a farewell dinner. (B,D)Day 10 Barcelona. Our trip ends today after breakfast. Say 'adios' to our crew, trip mates and new friends.
