Today we head to the medieval and walled city of Avignon, once known as the "City of Popes" (B,L)Day 6 Avignon to Barcelona, Spain. To Barcelona, Spain's most cosmopolitan city. An afternoon city tour is full of interesting sights. (B,D) Day 7 Barcelona. A free day to explore this unique city. Maybe visit Park Güell to see some Gaudí architecture and a wonderful view over Barcelona. (B) Days 8-9 Barcelona to the French Riviera, France. To the home of the rich and famous so celebrity spotting is a given! If not at the promenades of Nice then surely at the casinos of Monte Carlo! (B,D) (B) Days 10-11 French Riviera to Venice, Italy. Next stop Verona before we arrive in Venice. A vaporetto ride on the Grand Canal and a fascinating walking tour. (B,D) (B,D) Day 12 Venice to Florence. It's time for Florence, home of Michelangelo's 'David', via Pisa to see it's famous Leaning Tower. Tuscan cuisine, amazing art treasures and great shopping. (B,L,D)Days 13-14 Florence to Rome. On to Rome for a walking tour. The next day is ours to take in the Eternal City as well as the Vatican City. Make time to see the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. (B,L,D) Days 8-9 Tirana to Dubrovnik, Croatia via Montenegro. On to Montenegro then across the border to Dubrovnik, the jewel of the Adriatic. (B,D) (B) Day 10 Dubrovnik to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. A fascinating city heroically re-building itself from its recent tragic past. (B,D) Day 11 Sarajevo to Belgrade, Serbia. Travel via Srebrenica, location of the Bosnian massacre of 1995. Then on to Belgrade capital of Serbia. (B) Days 12-13 Belgrade to Budapest, Hungary. Budapest on the mighty Danube is where we spend the next two nights. (B,D) (B) Day 14 Budapest to Vienna, Austria. On to charming Vienna, home to opera, great coffee and apple strudel. A stop in historic Dresden is first before we head to Berlin, one of the most happening cities in Europe. (B,D) (B) DayS 19-20 Berlin to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
