Olweendo 50 Travel Namibia An andBEYOND guide scans the hills with a young guest from Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge Bush baby Looking beyond a name WINDHOEK IS GETTING a new luxury hotel - the African Pride Eliakim Namundjebo Plaza. The 125- room hotel is currently being developed within Windhoek's new Freedom Plaza, a mixed- use development with shops, homes, offi ces, entertainment and a hotel all in a single location. Construction has just started and is expected to take around two years. The hotel, will have a casino on the lower- ground fl oor; a restaurant, cocktail lounge and terrace bar on the fi rst fl oor; a business centre, executive boardrooms and a cigar bar on the upper fl oors and a gym, spa and pool on the roof. African Pride says respecting the environment is integral to the development of the Eliakim Namundjebo Plaza. The hotel will have solar panels, green roofs and solar control, while making use of intelligent lighting, thermal and coloured glass. It will link with Freedom Plaza and its tourism kiosk, business facilities, craft market, taxi rank and bus station. MUSHARA IS ADDING a tented camp to its collection, in a reserve that neighbours Etosha National Park. The Bush Camp will have sixteen ensuite tents, each with its own verandah and roof to fl oor windows. Four of these tents are suitable for families. At N$ 1000 per person per night, including all meals, the idea is to provide an affordable base for independent travellers exploring the Etosha. Early evenings at The Bush Camp will see a camp fi re lit, where guests can exchange stories of the day's wildlife sightings. Meals will be served on a thatched verandah with the bush just a step away. The Mushara Bush Camp is on the same reserve as the Mushara Lodge, Villa Mushara and The Mushara Outpost.
