Stare in awe at the ice- blue wonder of Portage Glacier Lake before heading to the fishing capital of the Kenai, Seward. Embark on an incredible full- day scenic cruise to the Kenai Fjords National Park and glide past calving glaciers, numerous sea bird colonies and perhaps a pod of orcas hunting for salmon. Then, board the Whittier to Valdez ferry across Prince William Sound, and be greeted with more stunning scenery, including the immense Columbia Glacier. On to America's largest national park, Wrangell- St. Elias. With two nights at our wonderfully eclectic lodge in the " bush town" of McCarthy, you will have plenty of time to explore the abandoned copper mining town of Kennicott, hike along the Kennicott and Root glaciers, or try your hand at ice- climbing. Why not take a scenic flight past the towering mountains and endless glaciers to truly experience this vast and rugged wilderness. The Yukon's premier national park, Kluane, beckons with a lovely campsite along the shoreline of Lake Kluane. Hike up Sheep Mountain or relax by the lake, soaking up its serene beauty before heading to Whitehorse. Wander the streets and take in the sights of this frontier capital before following the trail of the original Sourdough miners along the Yukon River to the gold rush town of Dawson. Camp along the banks of the mighty Yukon River and relive history panning for gold or gambling at Diamond Tooth Gertie's Saloon. It's still further north along the Dempster Highway into Canada's Northwest Territories and across the Arctic Circle to Inuvik, Canada's northernmost town. Be prepared for remote terrain as we experience the cultures of the Dene, Metis and Inuvialuit peoples in this frontier town. Take an optional flight to the town of Tuktoyaktuk on the coast of the Arctic Ocean to gain a unique insight into this remote and hardy community. Returning south, the scenic " Top of the World Highway" takes us back to Alaska. Saving the best for last, Denali National Park, " The Great One", is home to Mt. McKinley. Denali offers spectacular views, abundant wildlife and excellent hiking through unspoiled wilderness. It is the perfect finish to an unforgettable journey. 68 We go the extra mile We provide a second leader on all our walking tours to provide additional support and a greater level of flexibility, ensuring there is a choice of at least two trail route options on most days. Leaders enjoy spending as much time as possible on the trail with their groups. As interests and capabilities do vary, our leaders will typically guide day hikes according to the groups needs and the difficulty of the hike. It may not always be possible for every hiker to be accompanied by a guide when a group divides up to explore different trails. Hikes for all abilities Our Walking Tours are designed for active adults and offer a well- paced mix of walks for all levels of fitness. Most walks are of a moderate difficulty and are up to four hours in length. For the more adventurous, there are often optional longer, moderate to strenuous hikes up to eight hours in length in some destinations. The Great Outdoors Our dedicated walking tours offer something special for anyone with a passion for walking or trekking in the great outdoors. If you ask virtually any of our passengers to name their favourite activity on tour, the walks and hikes in the national parks, Native American Lands and wilderness areas invariably appear at the top of the list. There is truly no more inspiring, exhilarating and rewarding way to experience some of the most captivating areas of this continent.
