44 Travel Namibia The Mechanics Camping and cooking kit Camping is a Namibian pastime and they have some great camping shops. Take along a good quality table and chairs for a longer trip. Few things beat sitting out under the stars at night with a cold beer or wine and talking about your day. Even if you are not camping you might want to take some MAKING BREAD IN A POTJIE n 500ml can of Ideal milk n One can of creamed sweetcorn – easily found in Namibian shops. n 500g packet of self-raising flour. Mix everything together in your potjie, grease the lid and cook on your dying coals for around an hour or leave it overnight and you’ll have lovely fresh bread for breakfast. You can replace the milk with a can of Windhoek lager for a tasty alternative, or stir in some Marmite or cheese. Turn yourself into the campfire chef with a potjie. Chris Marais
