Olweendo 50 Travel Namibia CLOCKWISE: Daan Viljoen, Von Bach Huts, Daan Viljoen room at Dam, Reho Spa thermal pool, Beat the stress Revamps for Namibia Wildlife Resorts Daan Viljoen, Von Bach, Reho Spa and the four camp sites in the West Coast Recreation Area will all be upgraded together with each of the petrol stations at NWR camps. The Managing Director of NWR, Tobie Aupindi, said: " With so many facilities in its portfolio, it was not possible for NWR to address the investment and intervention needs of all facilities at one go. Public Private Partnerships provided a mechanism for attracting investment and bringing the standards of the infrastructure and service to levels consistent with the current market demands". Tobie Aupindi was appointed in 2006 with the brief to turn NWR from a loss- making enterprise into a profit- making one. Since AnAn unusual spa has opened on the outskirts of Windhoek. AfriSerenity treatments are based on the rituals of local tribes, passed down through the generations and use natural Namibian products. A spa day includes a drumming session that is lead by the massage team. Apparently the quick, quick, slow, slow rhythm of the drum soon beats away any stress. Guests are scrubbed with Mealie meal or brown sugar, and massaged with Marula oil. Mealie meal is also used for exfoliation before a hot stone or calabash full- body massage. The spa is situated in Brakwater, which is fifteen minutes from the centre of Windhoek. A free shuttle service is provided. then NWR has upgraded its key facilities at Okaukuejo, Halali, Namutoni, Waterberg and Terrace Bay. It has also developed two new camps – Sossus Dune Lodge in the Namib Naukluft and the eco- friendly Onkoshi Camp in Etosha National Park. Under the company Prosperity Africa, N$ 40 million will be invested in Daan Viljoen turning it into a wellness and lifestyle centre with accommodation, conference facilities and a spa. Von Bach is destined for a much bigger development, with an investment of N$ 450 million from Tungeni Investments The remaining upgrades include plans for a new lodge at Mile 14 and N$ 6.6 million improvements at Mile 72, 108 & Jakkalsputz camping grounds. A number of Namibia Wildlife Resorts properties are to be given a facelift following a deal with private business. NWR NWR Let mielie meal rub away all your troubles NWR
