In 2009 the Festival of Wildlife heads off to the plains of the Serengeti, home to one of the greatest wonders in the wildlife world – ‘The Great Migration’. Through the seemingly endless grassy plains, dotted with umbrella like acacia trees, over a million White-bearded Wildebeest and half a million Burchell’s Zebra embark upon their annual journey. Not even the dangers of crocodile infested rivers, lions, cheetahs and hyenas will hold them back from their ancient instinct to move to familiar pastures – and we hope to witness some of this during our stay. Alongside the wildebeest and zebra, giraffes, gazelles, birds of prey and attendant predators will provide inspirational photographic opportunities in this untamed beauty under the vast African skies. Our camp will be sited in the central Serengeti, but as we want you to be as close to the action as possible, the precise location won’t be decided until nearer the time. The remote location of our private camp will complete the African experience. Surrounded by the endless grasslands and savannah of the Serengeti you will become immersed in the beauty of the undisturbed majestic landscape. The spacious tents will be beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, a dressing table, with traditional cloth covers and spectacular views of the plains. All the tents have solar lighting and an en-suite bathroom with hot-water bucket showers. We will enjoy sundowners by the magnificent campfire followed by special dinners prepared by bush chefs – adding an element of Swahili to your dining! Our full line-up of experts is yet to be confirmed, but will include Jonathan and Angie Scott who have spent many years photographing and writing about this area, photographers Mark Carwardine and David Back, and wildlife artists Mandy Shepherd and Jonathan Truss. We will update our website with the other experts involved as we finalise the details.
