Depart London Depart London on the afternoon flight for Keflavik where you will be met and transferred to Hotel Klopp for a 2- night stay. Hotel Klopp is a good hotel in a central location within easy walking distance of the harbour and the many good restaurants and bars the Reykjavik has to offer. Day 2. Whale-watching [B] In the morning walk to the harbour for your first whalewatch excursion aboard one of two vessels. The first takes a maximum of 150 passengers, the second a maximum of 38. As soon as you leave the harbour you should expect to see marine life. The waters in the immediate vicinity are amongst the world’s prime locations for Humpback, Fin, Sei, and Minke Whales as well as Harbour Porpoises and White-beaked Dolphins. As well as whales, you may see a host of different seabirds and on your return, large numbers of nesting birds will be visible on Puffin Island. In the afternoon you have the option of taking a further whale-watching excursion, joining an escorted horseback trip into the surrounding volcanic countryside, or visiting the nearby geysers. Day 3. Homeward [B] This morning you have time for a final whale-watch excursion, before transferring to the airport for your homeward flight. En-route you stop off at Iceland’s most famous tourist attraction, Blue Lagoon. The lagoon’s brilliant waters which are on average 40°c are mineralrich and said to have curative powers. There will be two whale and dolphin-watching trips on day two aboard fast zodiac-style craft to give you the best opportunity to get close to some of the wonderful creatures that frequent these seas. The Azores are most famous for Sperm Whale sightings, since the area is used by females as a calving ground.
