In 2000, the vessel was purchased by Karlsen Shipping in Norway and completely refitted and upgraded specifically for expedition cruising. The ship is certified for worldwide international voyages and complies with all SOLAS, ISM, ISPS and MARPOL regulations for safety and the environment. Polar Star accommodates up to 105 passengers in cabins mostly with private facilities and lower berths, although the owners limit her to a maximum of 100 passengers in Antarctica. In 2006, the vessel underwent further extensive renovations to the forward lounge, dining room and cabins. Accommodation onboard ranges from triple and twin cabins to superior cabins and suites. All 59 outside cabins feature private facilities, two lower berths and either a porthole or window. Each cabin features a writing desk, seating area and ample storage. Built and outfitted as an expedition ship, the Clipper Adventurer brings the traditional comforts of a cruise to the world of adventure and exploration. The Clipper Adventurer was built in 1975 as the Alla Tarasova in former Yugoslavia and underwent a $13 million conversion in 1998 in Scandinavia. A superb expedition vessel, reminiscent of the days of the great ocean liners the ship has lots of varnished wood and polished brass. Equipped with state-of-the-art sonar, stabilizers and classified A1 ice-class, she navigates polar waters with ease. All cabins have an outside view, lower beds and a private bathroom. Presentations are held in the lounge, seating all 122 passengers.As well as a bar in the main lounge there is also a bar in the more intimate club room which seats up to 45. The Antarctic Dream (formerly Piloto Pardo) was built in Holland in 1958. In 2001 the vessel was purchased by Antarctic Shipping S.A. and completely rebuilt and remodelled in 2004 under strict regulations. The ship complies with all SOLAS, MARPOL, IMO and DGTM regulations. There are 39 twin cabins on four decks including four suites, 16 superior cabins and 19 twin cabins. All cabins feature a private bathroom with shower or tub and closed circuit TV.
