S E E U S O N T H E W E B AT wildlifeworldwide.com Orcas & Northern Lights of Norway 4 days London to London Days 1 to 3. Depart London [B (Days 2 & 3 only)] Depart London for Evenes in Norway, flying via Oslo. On arrival, you will be transferred by road and ferry to Tysfjord Turistsenter, your home for the next three nights. Tysfjord, situated several hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, is rightly famous as one of the finest places in the world to see Orcas. From late October to mid-January, large numbers of these marvellous creatures can be seen here, attracted by the arrival of huge schools of Herring. Having arrived in Tysfjord, you spend the next two days on the water with the Orcas. You will have the opportunity to enjoy two styles of whale watching. One on a conventional passenger vessel from which you will get great views and will be able to take good photographs. The other on board a fast zodiac, a very intimate and exciting way to view one of the world’s most magnificent predators. As well as Orcas, Tysfjord is also home to a healthy population of White-tailed Sea Eagles, which can often be seen, in large numbers. As the light fades, you return to the hotel. After nightfall, if the weather is clear, you may be lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis, one of nature’s finest night-sky spectacles. Day 4. Homeward [B] After breakfast at the hotel you transfer to Evenes for your homeward flight via Oslo. Wolf & Deer Tracking 5 days London to London Day 1. Depart London [D] Depart London for Bucharest. On arrival you will be met and transferred deep into the Carpathian Mountains to the village of Zarnesti, a traditional Romanian village. During your stay you will be based at Guesthouse Elena. The trekking over the following days will range from easy to medium, however this exciting trip can also be made with cross-country skis to enable you to cover a much larger area. Day 2. [B, L, D] This morning your guide will meet you and you will make an easy trek into the Zarnesti Gorge. This is usually an excellent place to see Chamoix. Day 3. [B, L, D] Early in the morning you will explore the virgin forests of Tamas in the Barsa area on the north-western slope of the Piatra Craiului Mountains. It is a good place for wolf and deer tracking. Other wildlife you could hope to see signs of at this time of year include Lynx and Wild Boar. Day 4. [B, L, D] Today you walk in the Ursilor Valley and with your guide observe and explore the animals tracks in the mixed coniferous and beech forest before returning in the evening to your guesthouse for a traditional dinner. Day 5. [B] After breakfast head back to Bucharest. En-route you have the opportunity to stop off at the medieval village of Bran, home to the castle used by Bram Stoker as his inspiration for the classic work ‘Dracula’.
