David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation - for many years we have had a wonderful relationship and close association with David Shepherd and the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. We have supported them in numerous ways and as such have raised ( and continue to raise) considerable sums of money for the foundation. . The Galapagos Conservation Trust - the Galapagos Conservation Trust was one of the key benefi ciaries of our Festival of Wildlife in the Galapagos Islands in 2005. . Horny@ 50 - this is a remarkable organisation set-up to preserve the critically endangered rhinos. We have played an important part in helping Horny@ 50 translocate black rhinos into Zambia's North Luangwa National Park, and now we are helping them to preserve the one- horned rhinoceros in India's Kaziranga National Park. . Raincoast Conservation Society - the society has brought awareness to the world of the plight of the Great Bear Rainforest on British Columbia's central and north- west coast. Through our Festival of Wildlife in 2007 and other collaborations spawned during the event we have benefi tted this area signifi cantly. it's all about giving something back " " Responsible Travel Acting responsibly in the way we operate our holidays is very important to us. We have a mission that cuts across every aspect of the holidays we offer: To preserve the natural environment and minimise any negative impact on local cultures through education, conservation, sustainable development and socially responsible practices. Or visit us on the web www. wildlifeworldwide. com11 Volunteer holidaysNEW Conservation is crucial to us, and we know that it is to you, too. This year we offer a few carefully- selected destinations and projects, which you can get involved in. All of them give you the opportunity to help local communities research and protect their fragile environments and wildlife. You'll generally spend a week or two on a project, whatever's appropriate to make a difference, with time allowed to explore the country afterwards, if you wish. Look out for this icon. . Festival of Wildlife - the 2009 Festival of Wildlife took us to the wildlife rich Serengeti plains. Here we were working with Save the Rhino International, which carries out vital work to save the world's rhino populations. Other benefi ciaries included the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and Honeyguide, a local Tanzanian charity dedicated to community support and conservation. We raised over £ 5,000 for these organisations. . Zambia - we support two schools in Zambia's Luangwa Valley. Over the years we have helped Yosefe Primary School build a comprehensive library for the school and the surrounding community, and more recently we have secured funding for the construction of a new classroom block. At Mkasanga School to the north, we have secured funding for a whole range of classroom facilities - desks, chairs, blackboards and even windows. As well as contributing to these charities, you can travel on any of our new and exciting Volunteer Holidays. |
