You will collect your car in Windhoekand our agents will brief you fully on yourjourney, providing maps and driving directions. The majority of roads are gravel but they areusually well graded and always well signposted -with a good map it is hard to get lost. A 4x4 isessential in the rainy season, however, at othertimes of year an ordinary car can be used. Whenyou reach your destination you can leave your carand set out to explore on guided excursions. Wehave suggested two self-drive itineraries here butthese are a tiny fraction of the trips we canarrange. An alternative to driving is flying aroundthe country using the scheduled light aircraftflights that go to the Sossusvlei, Damaraland andEtosha regions. You can choose how many daysyou'd like to stay in each place and we can tailorthe trip to this. When to go??The best time to travel.?A good time to travel, but there may be some factors to be aware of.~Travel is possible, but this is not the best time of year.?Travel is not recommended.Namibia has a sub-tropical desert climate, characterised by low rainfall and largetemperature fluctuations between day and night.During the dry season, which runs broadly fromApril to October, the skies are blue with rarely acloud in sight. In November the rain clouds startto build but rain tends not to fall until earlyDecember. Then, through the rainy period therewill typically be a downpour for around an houron some days, before the skies and theatmosphere clear again.Time difference:GMT+1 hourFlight time from UK:12 hours and 30 minutesPricesWe offer trips to cater for a wide range ofbudgets.
