Audley in the MaldivesWe operate differently from other touroperators who tend to offer a large numberof resorts. Instead we have selectedproperties that we feel are most suitable forthe differing tastes of our clients, based onthe excellent service or the style of theresort. The resorts that we work with offersmall intimate spas, are ideal for a romanticbreak, offer luxury accommodation built overlagoons and good value beach cottages ashort swim from coral reefs. A few days orlonger in this tropical paradise offers pureescapism. A stay in the Maldives can easily becombined with a tour of India or Sri Lanka, making it an ideal destination for anyone whowants some relaxation at the beginning orend of a more adventurous trip.PracticalitiesThe weather in the Maldives is influenced bythe dry season from December to April, withMay normally signalling the start of the wetseason when the southwestern monsoonarrives. Although the months during the wetseason do see varying amounts of rain, thereis still plenty of sunshine to be had and theadvantage of travelling in the off-season isthat there are fewer visitors and prices arereduced. The accommodation information in thebrochure is meant to give you anintroduction to our favourite resorts. Formore photographs and comprehensiveinformation on all our properties, please visitour website or speak to our specialists.Currently all international flights arrive intothe capital, Male, from where there are twotransfer options. Resorts that are normallywithin an hour by sea provide speedboattransfers and those further away are servedby seaplane. A seaplane transfer offers abeautiful bird's-eye view of the Maldives.Find out more For suggested itineraries and practicalinformation about travel in the Maldives, please see our website.www.audleytravel.comInteractive maps and features, further suggested itineraries, accommodation, climate informationand articles written by our specialists.Discuss your plans with our Maldivesspecialists 01993 838 310?The Maldives99HUVAFENFUSHI, NORTHMALEATOLLAs one of the more stylish retreats in theMaldives, Huvafen Fushi is intelligently designed tohave a natural feel. Whilst this allows fora wonderful experience, it is worth knowingthe differences between staying in a beachproperty or over the water. Overwaterrooms are often constructed close to eachother and therefore generally offer slightlyless privacy and the water over which therooms are built is often shallow and hassandy bottoms. At the same time, you arelikely to have unspoiled views over thelagoon and the Indian Ocean and almost allfeature private sun decks offering directaccess into the comfortably warm waterssurrounding the island. Beach accommodationoffers the same level of comfort and similarfacilities, but is often surrounded by lushvegetation, increasing privacy and protectionfrom the sun but sometimes compromisingviews and sea access.Overwater bungalows, MaldivesThe Lighthouse restaurant, Baros MaldivesBaros Maldives, North Male Atoll
